Tedx Porthtowan Women Event

Colleen and Sharon attended this brilliant event on International Women's Day!

At Jacksons, we are extremely proud of the wonderful women we have in our team. In fact, read this incredible article by Hayley to learn more about what we do to champion the women at Jacksons.

But we know we can do more.

And one way we can do this is by supporting women in our community. So, this weekend, on International Women’s Day, Jacksons sponsored and attended a very special event: the first TEDx Porthtowan Women.

Sharon and Colleen attended the event, created by Anna Lempriere, and were blown away by it. The day was entitled, “Breaking the Mould: Every Generation Empowered,” and it’s safe to say both Sharon and Colleen left feeling exactly that. There were 11 brilliant speakers, who covered a wide range of topics and around 150 people attended the event.

Here is what Sharon had to say about her experience there:

“Have you ever entered a space and just felt THAT energy in the room, the energy that refuels you and allows you to dream a different future for everyone? From start to finish it felt special to be a part of this day.

You spend so much time, thinking, fighting, leading the cause that you often don't get time to appreciate all those around you doing the same thing. This felt like the beginning of something more; a celebration of all the amazing voices that gave a call for action, that challenged your thinking.

We have a big part to play in empowering women in Cornwall, and we are right at the front for changing for good, this isn't a fad or a trend, this is a motivation to change the empowerment of women for good.”

And here is what Colleen had to say:

“It was something to behold, a room full of women hungry for inspiration and change! A full day of talks covering such an array of topics that really left the whole room inspired for what Cornish women are capable of and excited for what is in store.”

We are proud to have supported such a brilliant event, and can’t wait for more in the future.
