New Team Member - Dan

Sharon introduces you to Dan, our new Paraplanner and member of the Jacksons team.

This guy! You know when you meet someone and their aura instantly makes you feel calmer? Dan has that ability to make you feel comfortable immediately. He is calm, intuitive, passionate about helping people and equally passionate about being the best person he can be - a winning combination for a Jacksons team member!

Empathy is a hard skill to nurture; it needs all the feels and on meeting Dan it’s one of the first things that drew me to him.

With Dan’s agreement, I wanted to share a sentence from Dans initial email to me that hooked me in straight away ‘My personal vision is to help people achieve their aspirations through education and creating financial plans. Not only am I really interested in human behaviours and their relationship with money, but also the use of cashflow planning and its integral part of the planning journey. I very much want to collaborate with likeminded people who put clients at the very centre of what they do.’ See, all the feels!

Because Dan was remote, we asked him to record a ‘get to know me’, short video for the team and he smashed it! Of course he did, with his fun, clear and engaging tone beaming from the screen, the team loved him (or was it Lily, his dog…) immediately.  So not only is Dan very thoughtful, but he is also brave.

Dan has seamlessly become part of the Paraplanner team, supporting others, generously sharing his knowledge and helping us challenge what we think we know. He’s always keen to join the planners in client meetings, which we absolutely love – and clients do too.

We’re very fortunate that Dan chose us and are excited about the continued impact he will have on the team as he grows on his journey with us.

Okay enough of me, over to you Dan…

Okay, give us a few highlights of your childhood that make you, you?

I had a really happy childhood and was lucky to grow up in a loving family. It’s shaped me into who I am today; someone who values honesty, close relationships and not taking things for granted.

My favourite things to do was going to the Hippodrome Circus and seeing Danny the clown.

What made you get into financial planning?

I’m not sure anyone choses ‘financial planning’, but the more I learned about finance at college, the more I was drawn in. Now, many years later, I’m so fortunate to have chosen a career path that helps so many people.

Money is treated as a bit of a taboo subject, when it’s something that should be spoken about openly and taught in early life. This would help so many people make better financial decisions.

We met Lily and then Sarah (love them both!) What does a day off look like for the 3 of you?

Breakfast, long walks and seeing our friends. Tiring out a very excitable cockapoo is hard work!!

You know what’s coming! You are a DJ in your spare time, a talent soon to be called upon. What music are you into and what can we expect at the 2026 beach party?

This makes me nervous; the pressure is on! Genuinely, anything and everything and probably some questionable choices… watch this space!

You’re getting married this year, how is the wedding planning going?

The planning is nearly sorted and its quite low key. We’re doing everything ourselves pretty much, so it’s a small affair followed by a barn party. The hardest part was deciding where to honeymoon!

You are fully remote, does it work, what do you love and what do you miss?

Communications are via teams, and most clients engage remotely so it’s a perfect fit for me. Everyone is so lovely, always jumping on calls and keeping in touch. I’m very lucky to be part of a forward-thinking team.

Regardless of how much I love it, I must admit… I do get FOMO over the incredible bakes and office shenanigans. For example, have we found all the office ducks?

How has working at Jacksons challenged you since being here and is that a good thing?

Due to Pete’s podcast and academy, the type of clients we attract are so well informed, so the main (enjoyable) challenge is how elevated the planning is and questions being asked.

Being part of the PP team, we must be on our A game to challenge, be a thinking partner and help navigate clients on their financial journey.

Of course we have to ask, is it everything you thought it would be at Jacksons?

It is and MORE! We’re a family and SO different to other firms within the profession. We need to continue to shout about JMFP, and how we’re challenging the norm. Working with like-minded individuals that are so client focused and engaged is a complete joy!

If you’re reading this as someone in the profession, or even as a potential client and are doubting contacting us, take the leap and reach out. You won’t regret it.

Okay, back to me...

Do you feel it? That sense of calm, ease and quiet confidence… that’s Dan.

Dan can be as equally focused as he is fun and interesting to talk to. His passion for helping clients really understand their situation to move toward their goals is truly inspirational.

We are incredibly grateful that Dan had the courage to drop us a video of why he wanted to work with us, from the moment the team saw it we all knew he would be a natural fit.  He is already a massive part of the Paraplanner team, sharing ideas, supporting and coaching others and diligently working on clients’ plans.

Dan loves being part of the client’s journey, always trying to make himself available to jump in with a client meeting if he can, so if you are lucky you may get to meet him soon.

We are buzzing to have Dan with us; he is part of a Paraplanner team that’s growing in depth and confidence and impact… watch this space!
